Ingredients:
1 pound dry great northern beans 4 cups unchicken broth 4 cups water 6-10 carrots, diced 5 stalks of celery, chopped 1 cup chopped onion 2 cloves of garlic, pressed 1 T. parsley 6oz pkg Fakin' Bacon (I often use only half of this amount) 1/4 cup BBQ sauce or ketchup salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Soak beans overnight in a large pot. Do not drain. Place on stove and bring to a boil. Boil uncovered for 15-20 minutes. Drain and place in crock pot with water and broth. Set on high and cook for 1 hour. Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic and Fakin' Bacon. Reduce to medium and cook for 2 or 3 more hours, or until beans are quite tender. Scoop out 4 to 5 cups of the soup and run through the food processor then return to crock pot. Add BBQ sauce, season and serve when warmed through.
