TVP Meatballs
Ingredients:
- This recipe works with 1 cup of the granules:
- 1 C. boiling water
- 1/2 C. breadcrumbs
- 1/4 C. whole-wheat flour
- 1 tsp. sage
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. fennel seed
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- I have to double, triple, quad and so on this recipe but it gives you the basic idea for 1 cup.
- You can do it like this as well:
- TVP (soaked in veggie broth)
- 2 garlic cloves crushed
- 1 onion chopped
- 3 tablespoons of parsley
- 1 egg replacer
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt, pepper, oregano, basil
- Or if you are going to be using them for mostly Italian dishes then just mix them with the spaghetti seasoning pack and go with that.
- Another one is:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- I multiply this many times because it doesn't go far but you get the idea.
- She likes this one brushed on tempeh as it's grilling.
Directions:
Form mixture into desired shapes (patties, sausages, balls, etc). Cook immediately, or refrigerate or freeze for later use. To cook: Heat gently in a little oil or pan spray, until browned. Or, spray with pan spray and broil for 5-10 minutes and then bake at 350 degrees until browned.
